Murat quizzed a third time by Police

Sky News Headline; says:
Robert Murat - the only formal suspect in the case of missing Madeleine McCann - is being quizzed by police in Portugal for a third time. The Briton, who has denied any involvement in her abduction, went to a police station and has been quizzed for at least a couple of hours today. Detectives want him to clarify various details and possible contradictions from his previous statements in the light of new information they have received.

Sky's crime correspondent Martin Brunt said police "could possibly be charging him, but it is not likely." He said officers "want to clarify pieces of evidence, conflicting pieces of evidence. One of crucial aspects is that police believe he was involved in the search but he told me he was nowhere near the apartment until the next morning. When I left Portugal after the initial investigation the police were desperately going back to the night of the search when Madeleine disappeared asking people them if Mr Murat was involved in the searches. But they couldn't find anybody who could confirm that he was there."

Brunt went on: "He has been adamant that he played no part in her disappearance and he is waiting for the day that they tell him he is no longer a suspect."

A spokesman for the McCann family, Justine McGuinness, said the issue was a matter for Portuguese detectives. She added that Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate, did not wish to comment on the latest developments.

Officers believe more than one person is responsible for the abduction of four-year-old Madeleine, who has been missing since being abducted on May 3.

Mr Murat, who lived with his mother near the holiday apartment from where the British child went missing, was first questioned by police a fortnight after her disappearance.

Under strict Portuguese law, he is not allowed to discuss the case but has previously strenuously denied any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine.

'Perhaps they will hand him a paper and a pen and ask for a written confession. But that won't do them any good because it would only frame an innocent man.' If they push him too hard they will regret it. He too has friends in high places with toes too sensitive to tread on. They should really let it be. He may have a shady past and things he wishes to hide ... but he's not the one who can lead them to where they wish to be going ...'

Ten of Staves depicts a man in a wooden cage. Too little movement within the cage for this man to move ... there is little evidence for the LE to go on in their investigation relating to Mr Murat. His movements too and from the area concerned may be suspicious ... and he may appear to be watching too much; involved too deep ... but he is doing this on behalf of someone else. He is 'the mouth on the fence' ... the doorkeeper ... the watcher; but he is apparently not involved in Maddy's disappearance. He links with others around the situation. But he is not the one who can be charged with abduction or any crime related to the situation. He is a man with many different layers and trigger words ... a man not short of eloquence and training. He is a surprising personality ... with so much to hide. But nothing which is hidden appears to relate to what he is being questioned about. So just what is the investigation really digging into?
