Hundreds of rush-hour passengers are being led to safety along an underground tunnel after being trapped when their London tube train derailed. Transport For London said it was "looking at reports of an obstruction on the line" at the scene of the incident on the westbound Central line between Bethnal Green and Mile End stations in east London. It is not thought to be a terrorist incident. Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene but it was thought that the only person hurt was a passenger with an ankle injury.
The accident happened just after 9am and the affected passengers were still on the train around an hour later while the track was checked. It is believed that six carriages came off the track but the train was still in an upright position. Both Bethnal Green and Mile End stations were shut and Central Line services were suspended between Leytonstone and Liverpool Street stations. London Fire Brigade sent 14 appliances to the scene, including four urban search and rescue vehicles.

Appear something was in the way of the points. Sparks in the darkness. Eyes perhaps witnessed something on the line too late. Fluid? Water? Was there any water on the line; puddles? Clearly an archangel looks over the people involved in the situation. Apparent miracle. Disaster seemingly diverted. Lucky escape. Water or fluid a cause of the fault? Leaking fluid ... faulty break line? Maintenance fault. Appears something resembling the colour red was on the track.
