Daily Star Headline 'Maddie Ghost Visits Mum: says' Tormented Kate McCann told last night how she is visited in the night by the spirit of her missing daughter Madeleine. The anguished GP says she is regularly woken up by visions of the four-year-old in her bedroom. Kate, 39, revealed the visions to her mum, Susan Healy, who was worried about her daughter’s lack of sleep.
Susan had assumed Kate and husband Gerry were being kept awake by her two-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie. She was stunned when Kate revealed it was missing Madeleine who was haunting her.

I've come across this 'phenomenon' before several times in the past twenty years. A number of clients have been concerned about seeing their living loved ones 'appear' in their bedroom at night. One woman in particular, 'Jenny', asked me why her husband had appeared in her bedroom several times over a number of months. Her husband 'Steve' worked in the Armed Forces and was on duty in the Middle East at the time; she'd been unable to contact him; he'd not been in touch with her for some time and they'd not seen each other for many months. She was concerned that he'd died and it was his ghost she was seeing. My explanation had been perfectly rational, though I could offer her no physical proof. I'd explained that in he would have been focussing his mind on her and there would have been so much emotional attachment around him that his astral body had actually projected over to her. She'd been seeing his astral body and not his 'ghost'. I had assured her that everything was Ok and she would be hearing from him within the next few weeks. She had to ask him if he was 'visualising' being back with her at bedtime when she next heard from him. She'd been the 'doubting Thomas' but nonetheless had asked him when he'd finally rung her weeks later. Apparently he'd been imagining himself back with her .... and hadn't realised he'd actually projected his astral body over the miles!
