BSkyB added 83,000 net new subscribers in its first quarter from July 2007 and posted an 11% hike in revenues to £1.18bn.
Its figure for "churn" - customer turnover - was 11.3%, the lowest it has been for 15 months. Adjusted operating profit was £143m, down 21% on the £180m of 12 months ago, because of the broadcaster's heavy investment in programming and its broadband services.
James Murdoch said: "We have seen a strong start with continued growth in demand for our expanding range of products and services." (Sky News)
