A Freemason who has reached the 7th Degree Royal Arch Mason (York Rite) or 13th Degree of Freemasonry (Scottish Rite) will have participated in a ceremony in which he has drunk wine from a human skull.
This repulsive ritual is used to reinforce the candidate's understanding that if he divulges masonic secrets he would 'have his skull struck off and his brains exposed to the scorching rays of a median sun'.
If this weren't bad enough, the mason is apparently warned that in addition to this punishment, all the sins committed by the person from whose skull he has drunk will be added to his own!
