The Association of Chief Police Officers said that forces were already operating an "interim suspension" of the particular technique, which enables the analysis of a small number of cells.

Sean Hoey, 38, was found not guilty on Thursday of 58 charges, including allegations that he killed the dozens of men, women and children caught in the Omagh blast.
