A return to the towering peaks is long overdue
The Shaman a mere shade of the light he once put out
The poisons of darkness erasing his identity here deep in these hellish fields
He yearns to be the eagle again ........
To fly high into the sun light and gaze down at the snow white peaks
the glistening snow lines filled with priceless jewels
Rainbow colours reflecting the life giver; hunter’s eyes gazing deeper
Piercing the membrane of the lake; seeing the creatures there alive
oblivious to the killer’s presence as it soars high in the wintry sky
As the eagle spiralling forever skyward
Towards the zone where the air is thin; and its lungs strain for breath
The place where the angel’s voices speak
and give recognition to one of their kin
Alive in mortal form blessed with the art that is so natural to all of creation
A skill nearly all of the physical are made to forget on falling
Then the memory of the proud red skin with piercing eyes of blue returns
The sadness that was carried still fresh like a knife cut in the flesh of the eagle
Momentarily stunned it falls and drops like a stone form the sky
toward the razor sharp screes and sure death
then with a cry it rises once more
and spies the old man then watching from atop a pinnacle below the highest peak
It sees the smile and recognises itself
As spirit there it sits
Musing over its lessons surrounded by the sights and the sounds of its favourite place
Eternal are the memories; energies to cherish
Alive are they in the consciousness of the living spirit
Connecting thus the eagle to the old man to the suffering mortal
all facets of the one soul interactive along the spokes of a wheel
Those memories alive now in the mind of the present mortal
The traveller and scribe faced with the most daunting of choices
Yearning too for a return to that gentle landscape
to be alive again in that time where solitude was the lesson
in that awesome beautiful place .......
The yearning is thus so strong
a calling like never before
A need; a cure; a healing; a power to surely return .........
