Typically Laguz represents water, the ocean, running water as opposed to ice. Laguz suggests the testing experiences of life; the ability to take in and keep, receptiveness . Because it relates to the ebbing and flowing of oceans/seas, it can also represent the ebb and flow of emotions and human emotional states.
As water is the symbol of the unconscious and all the invisible Life forces; all of life is dependent on water, and it is no surprise, therefore, that Laguz can be said to represent the universal ocean - the supreme unity of all life - past, present and future.
It can be extended to the dream state and the classic Jungian “shadow” archetype which lingers beneath the surface of the mind. Laguz can represent those moments when the human unconscious is revealed when it is explored and when it is exposed to the conscious mind.
Thus Laguz can represent opportunities and new horizons. With Laguz it is important to seize an opportunity, but without over confidence. There is often a turning point when Laguz is positive, and with it the unknown reward.
