[David Icke]: We live in a world that is driven on money, that we chase to satisfy the ingrained ideas of our modern-day idea of success. The progression through this life on this planet has indentured us into a pathway of work, eat, consume, and die.
One of the greatest quotes that I have seen to explain this is the following: Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for, in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. Why then do we link our value to having more and more things, more money, more wealth, to impress those around us?
The sad part of that equation is that most are trying to impress people that we have never met and probably do not like. I am not in any way downsizing the idea of having nice things, and having great wealth, I am just insinuating that maybe we are placing too much of our individual value and success on earthly things.
