An earthquake in Indonesia measuring 8.0 on the Richter Scale has sparked a new tsunami alert. The US Geological Survey said the tremor was centered 117 miles from Bengkulu, a city on Sumatra island, at a depth of 20 miles. Hours earlier another massive quake in the same area collapsed buildings, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens. Many people fled their homes and ran inland fearing a repeat of the 2004 earthquake and tsunami. A dozen nations around the Indian Ocean were hit by that disaster killing an estimated 230,000 people.
