A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan, according to the USGS, prompting immediate tsunami warnings. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, all tsunami warnings -- including for the Okinawa, Anami, and Tokara islands of Japan -- had been lifted approximately an hour later. The Japan earthquake was felt in the Ryukyu Islands and took place 50 miles east of Naha, Okinawa, Japan.
The Meteorological Agency said the quake occurred off the coast of the island of Okinawa at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 kilometers) at 5:31 a.m. Saturday (2031 GMT Friday).
