By the time he heard the buzzer to his flat ring, he had psyched himself up ready to do his first reading for two long and painful years. He could not back out now, especially since he was aware of Clare's problem. He had gleaned an insight during a brief meditation carried out with the aid of his favourite "New Age" CD - the first time he had played the CD for a seeming lifetime. Its enchanting melodies had triggered his brain into a familiar altered state of consciousness he needed to get into prior to a reading. He had been nervous at first, doubting the music's ability to project him into that state of mind.
He had been pleasantly surprised when he recalled the familiar sensations he had forgotten! The bliss; the knowing; the connection with his friends of the etheric planes; the euphoria of contentment that he had forgotten existed. Daniel Stevens was back in business!
He smiled and agreed then with the souls that linked with his mind, the thoughts that were always there - it was so easy to accept destiny after all. He was part of a collective soul that had volunteered to experience the physical world together, together but alone. Each a separate cell, trapped in a suit of solid energy, that was able to interact with the others, but which had to experience the game of mortal dilemmas without the telepathy that was their soul right.
