Folic acid: The UK government is medicating the entire population when only a tiny minority might need it

Starting on 13 December 2026, the UK government has mandated the addition of synthetic folic acid to non-wholemeal wheat flour – to help prevent an estimated 200 neural tube defect-affected pregnancies annually.
