On Leaving Silent Avalon

Daylight gives way to night; the burning rays of sunlight now dead
The soft haze of mist haunts the fields; the moon’s rays adding to the enchantment
The Traveller wanders the snaking road with trepidation,
The hawthorns in the dips appearing as motionless spectres
Appearing out of the mists ready to howl their madness ...
The mists had cleared before ... on leaving silent Avalon
No other human had been awake when he’d made his way to his special place
On the side of that ancient hill where the cavern once opened the tor
He’d calmed his energies there and had sat in the intense silence
and his mind had visited another world ... away from the world of man...
