As a dark and mysterious creature, blackbirds are associated with lunar symbolism. They have nocturnal awareness and the ability to use all of their senses, a practice that we would do well to master. Like other dark animals, blackbirds as animal totems exude mystery and
seriousness, keeping their secrets safe and eliciting marvel. They
demand our devotion and commitment first before they even consider
opening up to us. For us, this is a lesson to not give ourselves away
too easily. We must protect ourselves to a certain degree.
