Beset

Lioness-demon, a feminine form of Bes. Some figurines of Beset show her as having the normal proportions of a woman rather than being dwarf-like, although like Bes she has a mask-like face that resembles a lion. One surviving representation of Beset is a wooden figurine, dating from the second millennium BC. The figure wears a Beset mask and holds metal serpents. Whether this is actually a representation of the goddess or of a woman taking her role in a rite is unsure.

The picture here shows Beset in a very similar form to Bes. This is a carving that has recently been unearthed in excavations in Egypt.
