Wayne Rooney is staying! Under-fire Man Utd star in extraordinary U-turn as he signs new five-year contract

Wayne Rooney, who had a furious falling out with manager Alex Ferguson and demanded a transfer, is to stay at Manchester United. The u-turn comes after a furious mob of Manchester United hooligans gathered outside his mansion last night to warn the striker not to join their bitter city rivals. While Rooney, wife Coleen and baby son Kai were holed up inside more than 30 men - some covering their faces with balaclavas - massed outside waving a banner declaring 'Join City and die'. And it appears the gang have got their wish today after Rooney agreed to shun a move from United and sign on until at least June 2015. The striker said he knew the fans felt let down but he vowed to win them over on the pitch. (Daily Mail)
