Expecting The Worst

This post should be part of the 'Long Dark Night Of The Soul' survivor's guide. How to cope with a point in life where one script has ended and another one is due to begin. That point where everything apparently comes to a grinding halt, and panic/fear sets in; though you refuse to let it because you are able to see the roadway ahead, and you know that which is the worst possible to happen, isn't going to happen.

The best thing to do is to prepare for the worst case scenario. Refuse to let fear blind side you; listen to what your instinct (Right brain) is saying and disregard the left brain taunting.

You are going to survive; whatever happens. You will adapt to the situation that lies ahead and get into a new routine. It may not be what it was before - it might be worse, but it could be so much better. It is a scary period yes, the unknown seldom presents itself as your best friend. Even when you are accustomed to these spliced sections in your life, these points are not the most pleasant of things. The brave are those who have themselves already preparing for what their fearing left brain whispers in their mind. Its not being negative or defeatist; its just preparing for a pleasant surprise when you finally cross the threshold into the next chapter ... and things turn out differently to what you were thinking they might turn out.

If you find yourself between jobs, suddenly, with limited finances saved in the bank, and a massive set of monthly outgoings; it may well be scary; but its not worth fretting about what might lie ahead in a few months time when all the savings run out and there is nothing coming in. Life has a habit of changing suddenly; things can go from the bad it is to so much better with one phone call or one e-mail. Its predictable that things might not change as quickly as you would like; but they are going to change. And there is a way round most things. No mistakes exist in life so whatever ensues has to be accepted as necessary or meant to be. Adaptation to the new circumstances may take time ... but it will happen eventually.

We are not all blessed with second sight, and even those who are doubt what they see ... and thought they might be able to see for others, for themselves it is extremely difficult. So the gifted mystic going through this interim period, it is as painful as the ignorant mortal. It is a period to sit it out ... and await the changes that will come ... because they will. And though the word 'change' is a cliched description in mystical matters; it still describes this suspended animation point in life. Life is about to be transformed from experiences at the end of one chapter ... to new experiences in a new chapter. Perhaps the fearmongery of the left brain has to occur as part and parcel of this process.
