The truth is: There’s always a small space — a pause — between what happens and how we choose to respond. In that pause lives our freedom. If we can take even one gentle breath before we speak, we give ourselves the chance to soften, to notice what’s really happening inside, and to choose words that build bridges instead of walls. That little moment of presence can open the door to greater honesty, understanding, and connection.
And here’s something beautiful — with practice, we can get better at this. Little by little, we can learn to bring more calm, courage, and compassion into all our conversations. Even the most difficult moments can become opportunities to grow closer, heal, and share more of who we truly are. Every word becomes a chance to bring more love into the world — and that’s a gift we can give, again and again. (Daily OM)
