Alarming new figures show that over 40% of babies born in England and
Wales last year had at least one migrant parent. The Telegraph has the
story:
Latest Office for National Statistics figures showed
the number of newborns with at least one parent born abroad had risen
from 39.5% in 2024 to a record high of 40.2% last year. It was 30.1% in
2008.
That equates to more than 235,000 of the 585,396 births last year.
According to the figures, the biggest contingent of foreign-born mothers came from India, who gave birth to 27,601 babies in England and Wales in 2025.
More
than 22,000 mothers were born in Pakistan, 15,500 in Nigeria and 10,600
in Romania. Other leading nations were Bangladesh, Poland, Ghana and
Afghanistan.
India was also the largest source of immigrants to
Britain in the so-called “Boriswave”, with 300,000 arriving in the peak
year of 2023. Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Ghana also contributed
large numbers of migrants in recent years.
The rise comes amid a fall in the birth rate in England and Wales, with the overall number of babies born dropping to 585,396 – a 1.6% decrease from 594,677 in 2024. …<<<Read More>>>....
