Chelsea 1-1 Burnley (aet)
Burnley win 5-4 on penalties

Championship side Burnley stunned Premier League leaders Chelsea after a dramatic penalty shoot-out at Stamford Bridge in the Carling Cup fourth round.

Burnley keeper Brian Jensen was the hero after he dived full-stretch to divert Jon Mikel Obi's decisive penalty to safety.

Didier Drogba had given Chelsea a first-half lead with a sumptuous finish from a Frank Lampard pass. But a spirited second-half from Burnley saw Ade Akinbiyi sweep in an equaliser.

Riches Lie Within You

Wealth without enjoyment is little consolation.
Your real riches in life are riches of the head and heart.
Satisfaction comes when you appreciate what you have.

While success is getting what you want,
true happiness is wanting what you get.

It's not how much you have,
but how much you enjoy that truly matters.
Riches lie within you,
not in your material possessions.

Defining 'Alchemergy'

Alchemergy (pronounced "al-chem-er-gee") is the application of alchemical principles to solve the problems of the modern world. It focuses on the perfection of human beings on all levels of spirit and soul, mind and body, culture and family, world and nations.

The word "Alchemergy" is made up of several root words that evoke not only the energy and principles of alchemy and transformation but also the emerging of a new way of working in the world. The component “erg” in Alchemergy is Greek for “work” and root of the English word "energy," which represents the life force behind the Great Work of personal and global transformation. Furthermore, Alchemergy is based on the merging of the Eastern and Western alchemical traditions, which is the coming together of ancient wisdom and modern knowledge, the two cultures of religion and science. This global merging represents the union of our civilization's Soul and Spirit. On the personal level, it is the melding of feminine consciousness and masculine consciousness -- what the alchemists referred to as the Sacred Marriage of the King and Queen.

The word "Alchemergy" also carries the sense of emergency that represents our current perilous human situation in a world built on materialism and greed, pride and revenge, fear and falsity. Finally, Alchemergy is about the emergence of a new kind of human being through personal alchemy and the willed mutation of our species. In short, Alchemergy is the Great Work continued in modern times.

In practical terms, Alchemergy is a group of hundreds of freethinking people individuals in every nation who are working magic in themselves and in the world. Like the multi-level meanings embedded in the word itself, the universal principles of Alchemergy are at work on all levels of body, mind, spirit -- on all levels of health, relationships, and business. The blend of scientists, philosophers, religious leaders, businessmen and entrepreneurs possible within the framework of the principles of Alchemergy makes it a powerful force for planetary, social, and personal transformation.

Alchemergy takes change out of the hands of politicians and back into the control of an enlightened populace. It envisions a time when an wary electorate will learn to judge leaders not by their words but by their actions. (alchemergy.com)

"Dwellers on the Fringe"

Poetry, like alchemy, is largely ignored, and is effectively marginalized from mainstream culture. Most people couldn't care less about either artform, and yet both house so much of value to humanity.

Poets, like alchemists, are dwellers on the fringe; often characterized, somewhat tragically, as undesirables, freaks or lunatics. Poets are interpreters of, as A.E. Waite put it in his little-known masterpiece, Azoth; or The Star in the East, “the unrealizable beauty of that which is behind the veil,” doing so ‘by the graciousness of the veil.”

As he so eloquently states:
In this matter the poets are our only interpreters – that is, legitimately – because the problem is outside science, which is concerned with the veil alone; and it is outside ordinary philosophy, because ordinary philosophy has affirmed that the reality is unknowable; and the best conclusions from analogy are to be learned of the masters of analogy, of the kings of interpretation, of those who see furthest, who possess that intuition which is the deepest instrument of supersensual research, and is in fact that higher faculty, that sixth sense, at which we have already hinted, which we now openly affirm is par excellence the mystical instrument. Those only who are in touch with poetry can have part in the life to come. It is therefore eminently, and before all things necessary, that we should see after the manner of the poets, and the mystical philosophy of Nature is to be found in them.”

Divine Resonance

Source; Daily OM

In many cultures and civilizations, chanting, a form of vocal meditation, has endured through the ages. Practiced by many people around the world seeking greater health, a sense of well-being, enlightenment, and a connection to the divine, chanting unites the mind, body, emotions, and breath through vocal sounding. This unification can open and nurture your creativity, lower stress levels, and teach you to become fully alert and in the moment.

Some people are naturally drawn to chant while others feel awkward using their voices in such a way. Singing along with recorded chants before chanting on your own can help dispel any nervousness. However, the chanting that will resonate most deeply and beneficially for you is the chanting you do for yourself.

There are many different chants. They can be composed of names, words, sounds, syllables, or even sections of text. What you chant is less important than your willingness to focus fully on the act of chanting itself. To begin, sit comfortably with a straight back and take a series of long, deep breaths to open and flex your lungs. Then, take another breath, and with resonant tones direct your breath outward in the form of sound. Simple syllables like ‘oh,’ ‘ee,’ or ‘mm’ are easy to remember.

Chanting lets you raise the level of your own vibration to a higher spiritual state. You can chant as an invocation or to set intention. Reciting even the simplest chant can bolster a flagging spirit, hone the mind, and produce natural painkillers within the brain. While chanting, you may feel energy surging through your physical body or joy entering your heart. Chanting can liberate and ground you simultaneously because it allows your soul to soar freely while compelling you to focus on the here and now.

Kether: The Summit Of Heaven

Identified by Kabbalah as "the Sephirah Kether," this Sphere of Aura-energy encompasses the top of the head, dome of the skull, upper brain-tissues and metabolic glands; any or all of which can become 'sore' or traumatized by a crisis of OVERVIEW, PERSPECTIVE and "OUTLOOK."

The Sephirah called KETHER in Kabbalah connects the individual with "Macroprospectus" or the ability to see the Whole of one's reality from the perspective of our Creator. Not only the poet Burns but all of us at times have wished the gift "to see ourselves as others see us;" and it is here at Kether that this is possible.

The word Kether means "Summit" or PINNACLE; a tall peak from which one can see everything around you. Anything that centers the attention at the crown of the head is Life's way of telling us that WE MUST CLIMB ABOVE OUR NORMAL LIFE, AND LOOK AT OUR PLACE IN THE WHOLE SCHEME OF THINGS.

Naturally associated with Meditation, Contemplation, Fasting and other forms of "withdrawal from the world" as Mystical Tools, Kether is associated in Kabbalah with BREATH; Breathing Meditations are an automatic and easy method of attaining contact with this very 'other worldly' yet profoundly important Sephirah.

Like all Branches of The Tree Of Life, Kether connects us with FOUR LEVELS of the Spiritual Hierarchy or "chain of command." Anytime your search for Holistic Synthesis or Wholeness points to this Sephirah, there is a strong probability that you will need to contact the chain this of command in some way before your crisis or problem will resolve itself completely.

Fluoride & the Pineal Gland

Up until the 1990s, no research had ever been conducted to determine the impact of fluoride on the pineal gland - a small gland located between the two hemispheres of the brain that regulates the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that helps regulate the onset of puberty and helps protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals.

It is now known - thanks to the meticulous research of Dr. Jennifer Luke from the University of Surrey in England - that the pineal gland is the primary target of fluoride accumulation within the body.

The soft tissue of the adult pineal gland contains more fluoride than any other soft tissue in the body - a level of fluoride (~300 ppm) capable of inhibiting enzymes.

The pineal gland also contains hard tissue (hyroxyapatite crystals), and this hard tissue accumulates more fluoride (up to 21,000 ppm) than any other hard tissue in the body (e.g. teeth and bone).

After finding that the pineal gland is a major target for fluoride accumulation in humans, Dr. Luke conducted animal experiments to determine if the accumulated fluoride could impact the functioning of the gland - particularly the gland's regulation of melatonin.

Luke found that animals treated with fluoride had lower levels of circulating melatonin, as reflected by reduced levels of melatonin metabolites in the animals' urine. This reduced level of circulating melatonin was accompanied - as might be expected - by an earlier onset of puberty in the fluoride-treated female animals.

Luke summarised her human and animal findings as follows:
"In conclusion, the human pineal gland contains the highest concentration of fluoride in the body. Fluoride is associated with depressed pineal melatonin synthesis by pre-pubertal gerbils and an accelerated onset of sexual maturation in the female gerbil. The results strengthen the hypothesis that the pineal has a role in the timing of the onset of puberty. Whether or not fluoride interferes with pineal function in humans requires further investigation."

5 of Serpents - 'retribution'
4 of Beasts = 'increase'
The Empress

Suggestions here of the family represented by the suit of Serpents is at loggerheads with The Empress (K M'cC?). Retribution towards her? Further or increased negotiations are perhaps possible to resolve this issue. The family of Serpents has possession of the Star? Speculation or fact? Definite hostility directed at The Empress.

Three or four storey house with basement level has green painted timberwork? Bay window at front of premises. Alleyway to the left? Old victorian house ... picked up (why?)

Ace of Fishes - Salmon seen climbing upstream to source. Still the uphill battle to bring the young salmon home. A link again to genetics/DNA?

Warrior of Birds
10 of Birds - 'disaster'

Suit of birds relates to communications/on the air. The strong indication here ... silence is golden. Current 'radio silence' is vital at this time. A need for silence to prevent current progress from being known (by the family of Serpents?)/ Possibility to gather intelligence to undertake apprehension? There is undercover work .... in progress. Inactivity is not taking place. Behind wall of silence King & Queen of Birds are in full battle armour ready for action ....

Man Utd 1-0 QPR

Carlos Tevez struck from the penalty spot in the 76th minute as Manchester United edged into the quarter finals of the Carling Cup following a dour match.

The Argentine made no mistake from the spot after substitute Danny Welbeck had been felled by Peter Ramage, but it was far from a vintage United performance.

The Italian forced home from close range but the official's flag was the right call - and an equaliser would have been unjust given the visitors' reticence to attack.

For their part, United totally dominated possession but - with Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Cristiano Ronaldo rested - attacks constantly misfired.

Still, eight changes to the starting line-up that went down 2-1 to Arsenal at the weekend perhaps explains the disjointed display United produced.

How Does Magick Work?

Before proposing any particular mechanism, it would be proper to first define what Magic is and what a practitioner might expect from the practice.

At the physiological level, the results are manifested in the body of the magician. Yoga and other physical regimens focus strongly on this level. Most meditative practices involve breathing exercises that facilitate altered states of consciousness. Shamanistic healing practices are also concerned with effects on this level.

Yoga is a good case in point. Much of the criticism of the "reality" of magic arises from the inability of the tools of science to quantify it. But most of the effects derived from Yoga practice (or Tai Ch'i, or several other meditative mind/body disciplines) are such things as a general sense of well-being, heightened alertness, fewer and less severe illnesses, more "energy", more restful sleep, etc. -- things that cannot be easily quantified by technical measurements. But they are unequivocally real to anyone who practices these disciplines.

Furthermore, just about anyone who takes up serious practice will manifest almost identical results; it is not a case of "purely subjective" effects. They are predictable and repeatable across a wide range of human subjects -- and have been for thousands of years. But you can't measure these effects as an outside observer. The only way to "prove" that this is the case is to take up the practice yourself and judge the effects for yourself. The same can be said for all four types of magical effects.

The neurological level refers to those parts of the deep mind where the sub-conscious, the non-verbal, the instinctive is to be found. At the neurological level, magical practice can give one far greater control over one's emotional, "gut level" reactions to that great experience called Real Life.

Ritual or sigil work can be used to overcome phobias and to counter obsessive states, or do exactly the opposite and induce such subconscious reactions that the magician might find useful. Sigil Magic uses simple techniques to implant deliberate subconscious cues in your own mind to access a given mental state at will.

Magicians are psychonauts that explore the fringes of inner space.

Mental/linguistic operations involve the rearrangement of belief systems and world-views, and they are crucial to the entire operating paradigm of Chaos Magic. The power of belief is undeniable. Beliefs not only have the power to shape one's own perceptions of the world, but to affect the perceptions of others as well -- this is the foundation of using meta-belief as a magical tool. The universe seems to have a way of providing experiences that tend to reinforce any given belief -- witness the great variety of fundamental world-views, both past and present.

This effect is sometimes referred to as "the power of positive thinking", although it can also encompass negative thinking as well. Much ritual work, especially invocations (where the operator assumes "godforms" of archetypal icons) function at this level. Pathworkings, long-term magical operations involving a slow process of building on consciously developed psychological structures, are useful as a means of "meta-programming" the mental state.

On the physical or material level, the goal is to effect changes in nominal or "everyday" reality. This is what most people mean by "magic", though in fact it is only a part of the picture. (Read more …. )

Banishing

Any discussion of magical technique will generally begin with the concept of banishing. Banishing rituals are usually the very first magical procedures that the new student learns.

When reduced to their common denominators, banishing rituals are intended to set a psychic demarcation of time and space, within which ritual action is to take place. This is what's important. It can be compared to what a chemist might do in a workspace -- make sure that the area is free of contaminants by cleaning it thoroughly; otherwise the results of the work might be spoiled.

Old banishing rites generally involved such things as visualizing the drawing of flaming circles around the operator, in addition to burning stars in all directions, robe-clad angels and/or castle-like towers on four sides, shafts of white light shooting through the middle of it all, while the operator screams at all the demons to get out! There is variation in the kinds of imagery used, but it's usually equally complex and superfluous.

Very few magicians who have been known to be literally dragged into a sulphur pit by ravening demons for failing to do a proper banishing. However, this is not meant to indicate that such techniques are not useful and important.

Most incarnations of Western Hermetic magic (Golden Dawn, Thelema, various shades of Witchcraft) use some variation of The Lesser Banishing Ritual Of The Pentagram (LBRP) as their primary banishing rite. The LBRP (affectionately known as the "el-burp") traces back to the 19th century British occult order, The Golden Dawn.

Briefly, the LBRP involves "grounding" oneself firmly in the center of a space, then proceeding to "draw" four visualized pentagrams in the air corresponding to the cardinal points of the compass. In the original version, each pentagram is accompanied by the visualized image of one of the four Judeo-Christian archangels (each associated with one of the four Elements of Earth, Fire, Air, and Water) "standing guard" on the periphery of the ritual space. If this idea appeals to you, there are a dozen or more books available that describe the ritual in detail, so I won't go into it much here. The Wiccans have their "Calling the Quarters", the Thelemites the "Star Ruby", so there are many variations on the theme one can explore.

However, this is about Chaos Magic. One of the premises is that magic proceeds from the deep mind, and few people really have the time and determination to internalize the imagery and meaning of the traditional archangels deeply enough into their minds to make it work well. Remember, these things must connect with your non-verbal, subconscious mind strongly in order to be magically effective. The image of a winged human clad in flowing robes must have been really impressive back in the 19th century, but after being exposed to Hollywood efforts like Stargate, Hellraiser and other blockbuster "occult" morph-fests, it doesn't have much of a kick for the 21st century mind anymore.

Thousands Flock to see Nepal's ' Buddha Boy'

Thousands of people flocked to a remote jungle in south-east Nepal to see a boy who reappeared after missing for more than a year and who some believe is a reincarnation of Buddha.
Ram Bahadur Bamjon, 17, spoke to devotees from nearby villages on Monday (local time) in the remote forest in Ratanpuri, 150 kilometres south-east of Kathmandu, police constable Prakash Sen said.

Bamjon made international headlines in 2005 when tens of thousands of people turned up to see him sitting cross-legged under a tree in a dense forest for nearly 10 months, reportedly without food and water.

"He spoke to the devotees standing near a temple in the forest," Mr Sen said after a visit to the site.
"He had shoulder-length hair and had his body wrapped in a white cloth. Since many people are walking to see him, I think he has some of the qualities Lord Buddha had."

Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born a prince in Lumbini, a sleepy town in Nepal's rice-growing plains about 350 kilometres south-west of Kathmandu more than 2,600 years ago.
He is believed to have attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, which borders Nepal.

Madeleine McCann: No new lead in police files

Source: Daily Mirror

Gerry McCann yesterday admitted the police files on Madeleine's abduction hold few new leads.
Gerry and wife Kate hoped the files from the bungled police investigation, released in August, would hold missed clues. But he wrote on his blog: "We're not halfway through but there is less information than we expected."

He also said he and Kate had a particularly "difficult week" - 18 months on - and they had expanded the support team to find her.

Gerry, 40, wrote: "We do not put much in milestones, these being just another day without Madeleine."

But he said their spirits were lifted by a fundraising event in Liverpool recently.

Explore Secrets and Sorcery With the Sun in Scorpio

The Sun in mysterious Scorpio invites you to delve into the Underworld and investigate what's hidden beneath the surface of everyday life. The Scorpion's goal is transformation at the deepest level, by bringing light to shadows and secrets and cutting through external appearances to uncover the core of truth.Like the snake -- one of the animals associated with Scorpio -- this sign teaches that shedding the old is sometimes necessary for new growth, and that death is an essential part of life. As autumn starts to fade into winter (at least in the Northern Hemisphere), days grow darker and signs of death and decay abound in the natural world, reminding us of our own mortality.

It's not a coincidence that Halloween, All Saints Day and Day of the Dead happen during the Scorpio season. The veil between material reality and the realm of spirits -- the visible and invisible worlds -- is said to grow thin, heightening our ability to access magic and connect with those who have passed.

Tarot Card of the Day

What has traditionally been known as the Star card is about reconnecting one's Soul with the Divine -- the transcending of personality, family, community and reputation. It has to do ultimately with the freedom to be one's Self. The Soul is responding to celestial influences -- forces that can provide the personality with a stronger sense of purpose.

The Star card helps us to remember our exalted origins and our attraction to a Higher Union. This card could also be called the "Celestial Mandate" -- that which refers us back to our reason for being, our mission in this lifetime. The Star reminds us that, in a sense, we are agents of Divine Will in our day-to-day lives. If we let go of the idea that we are supposed to be in control, we can more easily notice and appreciate the synchronicities that are nudging us along.

In this way, we become more conscious of the invisible Helping Hand, and we better understand our place within -- and value to -- the larger Cosmos. (tarot.com)

From the school run to the Oval Office ...

In the morning the school run - in the afternoon the Oval Office. Just another extraordinary day in the life of Barack Obama.

First he tenderly kissed his two daughters, Malia, 10 and Sasha, 7, as he helped them out of an armour-plated, bullet-proof car, weighed down by their school backpacks.
Then he flew to Washington with his wife Michelle to get his first real taste of life as 44th President of the United States.

At 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, it was a rite of passage that has been played out between incoming and outgoing presidents for decades. But never has the White House hosted such a historic transition from the old to the new.

For nearly 22 months on the campaign trail, Barack Obama could only dream about walking into the Oval Office as America’s first black president.

Yesterday, his improbable dream was written into the history books as he got a two-hour look at his new home for the next four years. He will not officially get the keys to the White House until his inauguration on January 20.

No Hidden Meaning

I opted to put a certain video on A Light In The Darkness recently, for no other reason than it being a point of interest. I was actually looking for something else and came across this 'said' video. I'd not seen it before so I decided to publish it on the blog.

It's quite extraordinary to see the reaction this certain video has had in the last twenty four hours. In truth ... this reaction makes me question the validity of leaving this perfectly innocently added video on the blog.

For certain readers note: there is nothing cryptic about the appearance of this video neither is there any hidden meaning behind me adding this video to the blog at this time

Meditation Breathing Technique ...

Breathing is central to meditation practice whether you have spiritual concerns or not. The breath is not monopolised by any one strain of thought and is experienced by each and every one of us as essential to our being. More than anything the breath is essential to life, and is the one thing that one is aware of when they have fully stilled their mind during meditation, whatever their outlook on life.

Although the breath needn’t be the central focus of meditation, it is often seen as beneficial to count the breath for the sake of clearing the mind, and because developing good breathing practice will undoubtedly invigorate your cardio-vascular system, leading to increased physical health and mental acuity.

Meditation really should not be a difficult process, but is rather the calming of one’s body and mind so as to restore it to its natural state. If you are new to meditation and want to start off simply and without embarking upon a spiritual quest, simply follow the next steps, and repeat regularly, noting the benefits as time goes on.

Choose a time and find a quiet place where you can return to between 3 and 7 times a week.

Consider your reasons for starting meditation, keeping them down to earth, and resolve to stick to your practice whilst observing the positive benefits coming into play.

Sit straight backed on a cushion or solid chair. Don’t strain to hold a position, but simply sit upright so as to give your lungs and other organs ‘breathing space’.

Setting yourself 5 to 10 minutes initially, rising to 10 to 15 minutes after a few sessions, simply count your breaths with one entire inhalation and exhalation constituting one breath. Count in series’ of 4-10 repeated for the duration of your meditation session.

Alternatively, choose a simple mantra (see related article: Meditation and Mantras) and repeat it over and over, saying your mantra once for each full cycle of your breath.
If you find that your mind wanders, simply note this distraction as a passing intrusion and carry on with your counting sequence or mantra.

Keep to the time that you have set yourself before you started your meditation, even if your meditation is going particularly well.

After your meditation take a couple of minutes simply sitting down in in order to adjust. Following this, take the occasional moment to appreciate the effect that the regular practice of meditation has had on you.

Such a simple meditation practice has benefits for those not wishing to embark on a course of meditation as a revelatory or mind blowing experience. For this reason it does, in fact evoke the kind of experience that even spiritual practitioners aim toward when meditating well. This is because the process of meditation is often taken to be something mystical of fantastic, when it actually only aims to make one aware of truth and normalcy. Starting the process of meditating with a very basic breathing exercise, and maintaining it in its simplicity is very good practice whatever your reasons for meditating.

Eagle Totem Animal

Because of his high flight, Eagle has been seen as a symbol of divinity among many cultures. To the Greeks he symbolised Zeus, father of wind and lightning; while the Native Americans see him as connection to Great Spirit. Eagle teaches us that we have the ability to soar to great heights if only we will find the courage to do so. Once we dare to reach, we find that the upcurrents and thermals of the Universe will support us.

Through Eagle we learn that the joy and freedom we gain through reaching for the Sun is worth the fear of singed feathers.
From his great height, Eagle's view of what is possible becomes broader, his horizons more limitless. Eagle people are may often seem apart from the crowd, where thier perspective can give them a better view of the big picture. Their broader perception gives them an inherent understanding of what must be done, and that in nature, the greatest mercy is often a swift kill.

However, Eagle's beak is swift and tearing, and Eagle people should remember that others view of the situation may be limited and to temper their words so that they do not cut others apart. It is important to learn that there is a time for force and a time for gentleness. There may also be a need to work at releasing past and repressed angers, so that the heart is lighter and can soar to greater heights.

Eagle's talons are strong and fierce. Those with Eagle medicine should be willing to grasp opportunity as it comes. To dive towards what they deem necessary or helpful.

The feathers of the Eagle are said to hold great cleansing and healing power. Legend also tells that the Eagle would undergo a Phoenix-like rejuvenation by flying close to the Sun and burning away its feathers, then bathing in clear water and be reborn. Eagle medicine teaches us to work towards releasing past hurts by embracing our inner core self -- the Sun at our heart, and by being willing to accept our emotions and heal. For those working Eagle there is a need for purification; willingness to embrace the creative Child Self at our core; and courage to let the processes of growth move through our lives.

Eagle thrives best in an environment of quiet isolation. Eagle people should be certain to make space in their lives for alone-time.

Though a creature of the air, Eagle has strong associations in all elemental realms. He soars toward the sun (Fire) and yet purifies in a lake, according to legend (Water) -- also, the Bald Eagle lives near water & dines on fish -- and eats of the creatures of Earth. The strength of his legs, far stronger than most birds, also speak of a need for grounding and Earth association. Through this, we understand that the journey to our Higher Self is an alchemical process wherein the greatest growth will occur when there is balance in all dimensions.

Hell and high water: Chaos reigns as a tornado, floods and 70mph winds batter Britain, leaving two dead

The full fury of the elements hit Britain yesterday as downpours, high winds and even a tornado battered the country. Torrential rain left two people dead and dozens of rivers threatening to burst their banks, with more than 100 areas on flood watch.

The Environment Agency has issued 22 flood warnings and placed 102 areas on flood watch. The misery of the wet weather has been made even worse by winds of up to 78mph, with the strongest gusts recorded at The Needles on the Isle of Wight.

Meanwhile, the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation, a privately- funded research body, has issued a tornado warning for South-East England, East Anglia and parts of the Midlands.

The Oak Tree: King of the Greenwood

THE OAK (QUERCUS ROBOR) is deeply connected in our hearts as representing the very essence of England, and especially the power of the High King and his ancient and spiritual link to the land. It would be hard not to think of this tree as a masculine energy - mighty, strong, enduring and steadfast. The images we have of the Oak are buried deep in in our national psyche. Indeed, it is one of our longest-living trees, spanning generations upon generations. For this reason, old oaks were veneraged and used by the Druids, Ovates and Bards, and later by the Kings and the Church, for important meetings and ceremonies. They were planted to mark boundaries because of their longevity and strength to endure for hundreds of years.

The Oak will take 70 - 80 years before it begins to produce acorns. By then the trunk will be about 20 inches in diameter, but this will still be a young tree in the life of an Oak. After it has reached 100 years, it will only increase its girth by about one inch (2.5cms) a year, but this extremely hard dense wood is highly prized as a building material and firewood. Until men devised iron cutting tools, the Oak resisted all attempts to fell it. After this, ironically, Oak became the main wood for making the charcoal needed for the furnaces which separated iron from its ore. It later became the main construction material for houses, churches and ships as it was strong and durable and its twisted branches provided the right shapes needed. In Elizabethan times, a law had to be passed, protecting the Oak, to give the tree a chance to re-establish itself as so much of the great oak forests had been felled for building materials and fuel. After that, many oaks were coppiced to give a re-newable resource. The Oak woods we have now are a legacy from these times.

There are many famous old Oak trees. The most notable perhaps is the major Oak in Sherwood Forest, although it is a big disappointment to see it these days, held up with chains and a fence round it to stop all human contact. Other ancient Oaks can be found on village greens or in fields and would previously have been used a boundary marker. Many old Oaks were called Gospel Oaks, relating to the time when the gospels were preached from beneath their mighty shade. Of course, this follows on from the custom and practice of the Druids who met in mighty Oak groves and beneath old Oak trees, for all their meetings and teachings were outside in the open and closely connected to the tree dryads.

One etymology of the word Druid derives it from "dru-wid", meaning "knower of oak trees", but "deru" also means truth or troth and so could also give the meaning "knower of the truth".

In the Ogham, the Oak is given the word Duir. Duir comes from the Gaelic and Sanskrit word meaning "door" and there are many associations to be found linking the oak, not only to the doors of our houses but also as representing a doorway to inner strength and inner spirituality. The Oak will lead the way to the truth, especially where this is connected to part actions and this revelation will bring strength and vision, and a doorway to new understanding.

Sometimes the road for Oak in the Beith-Luis-Nion is given as Dair instead of Duir. The word dair describes a rutting deer and kingship, connected the Oak and the Oak king to the Beltane rites. It is also closely connected to the Daghdha who is linked to the Earth and the physical attributes of food, sex and crude raw physical energy, also uppermost at Beltane.

In the Beith-Luis-Nion system as described by Robert Graves the Oak, being the 7th tree, is central to the 13 moons and is linked to the Summer Solstice. "The lunar month which takes its name from Jupiter, the Oak-god, begins on 10th June and ends on 7th July. Midway comes St John's Day, 24th June, the day on which the Oak King was sacrificially burned alive. The Celtic year was divided into 2 halves, with the second half beginning in July, apparently after a 7-day wake, or funeral feast, in the Oak King's honour."

Traditionally, the need fire (a sacred fire which was kindled after all the other fires had been put out) was always kindled in an Oak log, and the fuel for the Midsummer fires was customarily of Oak. The Oak therefore virtually stands at the doorway of the great turning point of the year, the Summer Solstice. The sun reaches the height of its power and strength, and turns to begin a new cycle of its decline. The Oak is central to the understanding that this change will effect us, and is part of our growth which links us to the etheric web of the Earth. The Summer Solstice is the peak of expressive and expansive personal energy, but it cannot last forever, or we would burn ourselves out. Strength and endurance can be gained if we learn from our experiences now, and begin to prepare for the new cycle which is about to begin.

Give up trying to figure out what "enlightenment" is.
It is enough simply to pay attention to Reality as it shows up, here and now.

The Madeleine McCann Mystery

The Deeper Symbolism of Freemasonry

Candidates proposing to enter Freemasonry has seldom formed any definite idea of the nature of what he is engaging in. Even after his admission he usually remains quite at a loss to explain satisfactorily what Masonry is and for what purpose his Order exists. He finds, indeed, that it is "a system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols," but that explanation, whilst true, is but partial and does not carry him very far. For many members of the Craft to be a Mason implies merely connection with a body which seems to be something combining the natures of a club and a benefit society. They find, of course, a certain religious element in it, but as they are told that religious discussion, which means, of course, sectarian religious discussion, is forbidden in the Lodge, they infer that Masonry is not a religious institution, and that its teachings are intended to be merely secondary and supplemental to any religious tenets they may happen to hold.

One sometimes hears it remarked that Masonry is "not a religion"; which in a sense is quite true; and sometimes that it is a secondary or supplementary religion, which is quite untrue. Again Masonry is often supposed, even by its own members, to be a system of extreme antiquity, that was practised and that has come down in well-nigh its present form from Egyptian or at least from early Hebrew sources, a view which again possesses the merest modicum of truth.

In brief, the vaguest notions obtain about the origin and history of the Craft, whilst the still more vital subject of its immediate and present purpose, and of its possibilities, remains almost entirely outside the consciousness of many of its own members. They meet in their Lodges regularly; they perform their ceremonial work and repeat their catechetical instruction-lectures night after night with a less or greater degree of intelligence and verbal perfection, and there their work ends, as though the ability to perform this work creditably were the be-all and the end-all of Masonic work. Seldom or never do we employ our Lodge meetings for that purpose for which, quite as much as for ceremonial purposes, they were intended, viz.: for "expatiating on the mysteries of the Craft," and perhaps our neglect to do so is because we have ourselves imperfectly realized what those mysteries are into which our Order was primarily formed to introduce us.

Yet, there exists a large number of brethren who would willingly repair this obvious deficiency; brethren to whose natures Masonry, even in their more limited aspect of it, makes a profound appeal, and who feel their membership of the Craft to be a privilege which has brought them into the presence of something greater than they know, and that enshrines a purpose and that could unfold a message deeper than they at present realise. The new statin drug that cuts the risk of heart attacks and strokes for EVERYONE

Source: Daily Mail

A new statin drug dramatically cuts the number of heart attacks and strokes, even for people without high cholesterol.

In a major trial, daily treatment with Crestor slashed the rate of heart problems and deaths by 44 per cent.
Crucially, the U.S. study involved those who would not normally be considered at risk of heart problems. Their cholesterol was at 'healthy' levels that would not qualify them for statin treatment in the UK and many other countries.

But they all had high levels of a protein linked to heart disease. Now the U.S. researchers want this factor to be considered when deciding who will receive statins. British experts say the study could open a new era in assessing people's risk of heart attacks and strokes.

The trial, called Jupiter, involved almost 18,000 people - one in seven of them from the UK. They all had high levels of a protein called hsCRP - high sensitivity C-reactive protein - which is linked to inflammation in the arteries. Crestor, which is already available on the NHS, cut these levels and also halved levels of the 'bad' cholesterol known as LDL.

Heart attacks were cut by 54 per cent, strokes by 48 per cent and the need for angioplasty or bypass by 46 per cent among the group on Crestor

The Book Of Life

Source: Daily OM

Technology has made it possible to gather and store vast amounts of information on almost everyone living in modern society. The records of our birth and death, financial and marital status is all filed away somewhere. Yet, way back before even the concept of computers existed there were the Akashic Records.

Also referred to as the Book of Life, the Akashic Records is a universal storehouse containing the history of humankind, as well as all manner of spiritual information. Thus, every deed, feeling, and intent that has ever occurred at any time is recorded. The records are interactive and have influence on our everyday lives, relationships, and belief systems.

The Akashic Records have been referred to in many ways, cosmic or collective consciousness, the universal mind, collective unconscious or collective subconscious. Folklore, myths, and spiritual texts make reference to these records. They are the inspiration of dreams and inventions, molding and shaping levels of human consciousness and connecting us to one another. Unbiased judge and jury, the records attempt to guide, educate, and transform every individual to become the best that they can be.

It is believed that the Akashic Records may be ascertained in certain states of consciousness such as meditation, going into trance, the use of drugs, even stages of sleep. Certain people, such as shamans, mystics, and psychics may be more attuned to reading these records, but everyone has the ability to tap into their subconscious and gather information that is beneficial to themselves and/or others. Such insights can be helpful in releasing blockages, overcoming addictions, or negative behavior patterns. The Akashic Records can give us insights into the nature of ourselves and our relationship to the universe.

Defining Ectenic Force

Ectenic force a supposed phenomenon of physical that is emitted by the person of the medium, and directed by his will, producing the means by which objects move without contact in apparent defiance of natural laws.

The existence of such a force was initially postulated by Count Agenor de Gasparin, to explain the phenomena of table turning and tapping, and it was named Ectenic Force by de Gasparin's colleague M. Thury. The experiment of Thury and de Gasparin declared to offer some of the most convincing evidence that spiritualism could produce, and influenced some eminent students of psychical research.

Such a theory is necessary if tables and other objects move without physical contact, but its validity remains uncertain because supporting evidence is not abundant. (the mystica.com)

Secret documents cast doubt on legality of Charles's wedding

Source: Daily Mail

The Government is being accused of a cover-up after it was claimed that secret documents show it was wrong to rule that Prince Charles's register office marriage to Camilla Parker Bowles was legal.

Confidential Whitehall papers seen by The Mail on Sunday appear to support claims by constitutional experts that Ministers should have told the couple the law banned them from taking part in a civil wedding.

And Justice Minister Jack Straw came under fire for refusing to reveal further details of secret legal advice given to Tony Blair's Government before its controversial decision to approve the wedding.

The latest development in the long-running dispute over the legality of Charles and Camilla's register office wedding comes in the run-up to the Prince's 60th birthday on Friday.

Night to savour for National supporters (Bye Bye Helen C)

Miss Clark announced she was standing down as Labour leader last night after losing yesterday's election, though she intended staying on as the MP for Mt Albert for now.

Prime Minister-elect John Key says he would be happy for his predecessor Helen Clark to take a role on the international stage if that is what she wanted.

Mr Key told journalists today there was a historic precedent for former prime ministers to take on an international role in order to use their abilities after their time in Parliament ceased.

"That would be something that clearly we could discuss in the future, but I wouldn't rule it out," Mr Key said.

"I think most New Zealanders would recognise the enormous service that Helen Clark has done." (Source: News.Yahoo.Com)

Arsenal 2-1 Man Utd

Samir Nasri struck twice as Arsenal beat Manchester United and delivered an emphatic confirmation of manager Arsene Wenger's belief that they are still serious Premier League contenders. Nasri's deflected shot opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and he doubled their advantage three minutes after the interval with a powerful finish from Cesc Fabregas's precise pass.

Substitute Rafael volleyed United back into contention with a minute of normal time left - but Arsenal survived six extra minutes and an outbreak of mass anxiety at the Emirates to clinch the three points.

It was a victory they merited, with United creating and wasting chances but never carrying the same sense of self-belief as Arsenal in a highly charged atmosphere. (BBC Sport)

Millions WILL benefit as mortgage giants are forced to pass on historic interest rate cut

Source: Daily Mail

Banking giants were shamed into slashing their mortgage rates yesterday following a direct order from the Prime Minister.

The move will be cheered by more than a million homeowners whose monthly bills will drop by around £135 on an average £150,000 loan, and many more should benefit soon. It comes after banking chiefs were summoned to an emergency meeting at the Treasury yesterday morning and read the riot act.

On Thursday, the Bank of England axed rates by 1.5 points to 3 per cent, the lowest since 1955 and the biggest cut for nearly 30 years.

But most of the big banks totally ignored the central bank's extraordinary move.

To make matters worse, they rushed to pull their cheapest tracker mortgage deals, a major blow for homeowners and first-time buyers trying to save money.

The culprits which scrapped trackers included the three - Lloyds TSB, HBOS, owner of Halifax, and Royal Bank of Scotland, owner of NatWest - which are getting a £37billion taxpayer bail-out.

An Exercise In Self

Source: Daily OM

Since we probably know ourselves better than anyone else does, then we may very well be the best person to ask for advice when we are in a quandary. One interesting exercise is to try asking for advice from your past and future selves. There is the younger self that you used to be and the older, more mature self that you will become. You can gain a different perspective when you view present situations through your younger self’s eyes or your mature self’s more experienced point of view. Perhaps, your younger self would view a current dilemma in a more innocent, less cynical way. Likewise, your older, hopefully wiser, self may offer advice from a more compassionate, experienced perspective.

Think back to how you viewed the world when you were younger. What were your thoughts on happiness, love, and injustice? Think about how you would have reacted to a dilemma you are currently facing. The perspective may shed a different light on relationships, money matters, or life decisions. Likewise, think about the person you will become. A more mature version of you might mull a problem or conflict over carefully before taking action right away… or perhaps not. Maybe your older self would be more willing to take risks, care less about what other people think, and want to enjoy life more.

You can even set up an advisory panel of your past, present, and future selves. You might even want to try to have a written dialogue with your selves to record the thoughts, feelings, and advice that your younger and older selves might have for your present self regarding a current situation. Your different selves can give you some invaluable answers. After all, no one can know you better than your selves. You are your wisest guide.

More on The Akashic Records

A theosophical term referring to an universal filing system which records every occurring thought, word, and action. The records are impressed on a subtle substance called akasha (or Soniferous Ether). In Hindu mysticism this akasha is thought to be the primary principle of nature from which the other four natural principles, fire, air, earth, and water, are created. These five principles also represent the five senses of the human being.

Some indicate the akashic records are similar to a Cosmic or collective consciousness. The records have been referred to by different names including the Cosmic Mind, the Universal Mind, the collective unconscious, or the collective subconscious. Others think the akashic records make clairvoyance and psychic perception possible.

It is believed by some that the events recorded upon that akasha can be ascertained or read in certain states of consciousness. Such states of consciousness can be induced by certain stages of sleep, weakness, illness, drugs, and meditation so not only mystics but ordinary people can and do perceive the akashic records. Some mystics claim to be able to reanimate their contents like they were turning on a celestial television set. Yogis also believe that these records can be perceived in certain psychic states.

Certain persons in subconscious states do read the akashic records. An explanation for this phenomena is that the akashic records are the macrocosm of the individual subconscious mind. Both function similarly, they possess thoughts which are never forgotten. The collective subconscious gathers all thoughts from each subconscious mind which can be read by other subconscious minds.

An example of one who many claimed successfully read the akashic records is the late American mystic Edgar Cayce. Cayce did his readings in a sleep state or trance. Cayce's method was described by Dr. Wesley H. Ketchum who for several years used Cayce as an adjunct for his medical practice. "Cayce's subconscious...is in direct communication with all other subconscious minds, and is capable of interpreting through his objective mind and imparting impressions received to other objective minds, gathering in this way all knowledge possessed by endless millions of other subconscious minds." Apparently Cayce was interpreting the collective subconscious mind long before the psychiatrist C.J. Jung postulated his concept of the collective unconscious.

And ... here's another illusion ...

...and it's potentially the best yet ...

Mayan Prophecy 2012: Entering Our Galactic Day

Many of us are aware of the Mayan calendar but not many people truly understand what it means and how it works. Yes the calendar does end on December 21, 2012, but what does that mean? How does it come to that? What is their calendar based off of?

The Mayans had a very precise understanding of our solar system's cycles and believed that these cycles coincided with our spiritual and collective consciousness. The most significant of which has much to do with the 2012 prophecies. In the following writing, we will walk through the main details of their prophecies surrounding the 2012 transition. How the transition takes place (from an astronomical perspective), what it means for us, and when the cycles take place. We'll start with the basic prophecies and later move deeper into the explanation of the cycles.

The Mayans prophesied that from 1999 we have 13 years to realize the changes in our conscious attitude to stray from the path of self-destruction and instead move onto a path that opens our consciousness to integrate us with all that exists.

The Mayans knew that our Sun, or Kinich-Ahau, every so often synchronized with the enormous central galaxy. And from this central galaxy received a 'spark' of light which causes the Sun to shine more intensely producing what our scientists call 'solar flares' as well as changes in the Sun's magnetic field. The Mayans say that this happens every 5,125 years. But also that this causes a displacement in the earths rotation, and because of this movement great catastrophes would be produced.

The Mayans believed the universal processes, like the 'breathing' of the galaxy, are cycles that never change. What changes is the consciousness of man that passes through it. Always in a process toward more perfection.

Based on their observations, the Mayans predicted that from the initial date of the start of their civilization, 4 Ahau, 8 Cumku which is 3113 B.C., after one cycle being completed 5,125 years in their future, December 21st, 2012. The Sun, having received a powerful ray of synchronizing light from the center of the galaxy, would change its polarity which would produce a great cosmic event that would propel human kind to be ready to cross into a new era, The Golden Age. It is after this, that the Mayans say we will be ready to go through the door that was left by them, transforming our civilization based on fear to a vibration much higher in harmony.

Only from our individual efforts could we avoid the path to great cataclysm that our planet will suffer to start a new era, the sixth cycle of the Sun. The Mayan civilization was in the fifth cycle of the Sun, and there were four other great civilizations before them that were destroyed by great natural disasters. They believed that each cycle was just one stage in the collective consciousness of humanity.

In the last cataclysm of the Mayans, the civilization was destroyed by a great flood that left little survivors of which were their descendants. They believed that having known the end of their cycle, mankind would prepare for what is to come in the future and it is because of this that they would have preserved the dominant species; the human race.

They say that coming changes will permit us to make a quantum leap forward in the evolution of our consciousness to create a new civilization that would manifest great harmony and compassion to all humankind.

Their first prophecy talks about 'The Time of No-Time'. A period of 20 years, which they call a Katún. The last 20 years of the Sun's cycle of 5,125 years. This cycle is from 1992 - 2012. They predicted that during these times, solar winds would become more intense and could be seen on the Sun. This would be a time of great realization and great change for mankind. And it would be our own lack of preservation and contamination of the planet that would contribute to these changes. According to the Mayans, these changes would happen so that mankind comprehends how the universe works so we could advance to superior levels, leaving behind superficial materialism and liberating ourselves from suffering.

The Mayans say, that seven years after the start of Katún, which is to say 1999, we would enter a time of darkness which would force us to confront our own conduct. The say that this is the time when mankind will enter 'The Sacred Hall of Mirrors'. Where we will look at ourselves and analyze our behaviors with ourselves, with others, with nature and with the planet in which we live. A time in which all of humanity, by individual conscious decisions, decides to change and eliminate fear and lack of respect from all of our relationships. The Mayans prophesied that the start of this period would be marked by a solar eclipse on August 11, 1999, known to them as 13 Ahau, 8 Cauac. And would coincide with an unprecedented planetary alignment, the 'Grand Cross' alignment. This would be the last 13 years of the Katón period. The last opportunity for our civilization to realize the changes that are coming at the moment of our spiritual regeneration.

For the Mayans, everything is numbers and the time of the 13 sacred numbers started in August 1999. They predicted that along with the eclipse, the forces of nature would act like a catalyst of changes so accelerated and with such magnitude that mankind would be powerless against them. Also, that our technologies in which we rely on so much would begin to fail us. We would no longer be able to learn from our civilization in the way that we are organized as a society. They said that our internal, spiritual development would require a better place along with a better way to interact with more respect and compassion.

The first prophecies were attained by their study of our Sun. The Mayans discovered that the entire solar system moved. That even our universe has its own cycles. Repetitive periods which begin and end like our day and night. These discoveries lead to the understanding that our solar system rotates on an ellipse that brings our solar system closer and further from the center of the galaxy. In other words, according to the Mayans, our Sun and all of its planets rotate in cycles in relation to the center of the galaxy or Hunab-Kú, the central light of the galaxy. It takes 25,625 years for our solar system to make one cycle on this ellipse. One complete cycle is called a galactic day. The cycle is divided into two halves similar to our day and night. The half closest to the central light, is our solar system's 'day' and the half furthest away is its 'night'. Each day and each night lasts 12,800 years. Which is to say, the central galaxy is the Sun for our entire solar system.

The Mayans discovered that every grand cycle has its minor cycles, that carry the same characteristics. One galactic day of 25,625 years is divided into five cycles of 5,125 years. The first cycle is the galactic morning. When our solar system is just coming out of the darkness to enter the light. The second cycle is the mid-day. When our solar system is closest to the central light. The third cycle is the afternoon. When our solar system begins to come out of the light. The fourth cycle is the late-night. When our solar system has entered its furthest cycle from the central light. And the fifth and last cycle is night before dawn. When are solar system is in its last cycle of darkness before starting again. This is the cycle we are currently coming out of.

The Mayan prophecy tells us that in 1999, our solar system began to leave the end of the fifth cycle which started in 3113 B.C. and that we find ourselves in the morning of our galactic day, exiting darkness and on the verge of being in plain day of our central galaxy in 2012. They say that at the beginning and end of these cycles, which is to say, every 5,125 years, the central sun or light of the galaxy emits a ray of light so intense and so brilliant that it illuminates the entire universe. It is from this burst of light that all of the Suns and planets sync. The Mayans compare this burst to the pulse of the universe, beating once every 5,125 years. It is these pulses that mark the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. Each pulse lasting 20 years, a Katún
