Blair begins his final week as PM

Tony Bliar will finally draw down the curtain on a decade in power on Wednesday of next week - June 27

Tony Blair is due to face his last grilling from the Commons Liaison Committee of senior MPs as he begins his final full week in office. Mr Blair introduced the twice-yearly hearings in 2002 to give the committee - made up of select committee chairmen - a chance to question him in detail on a range of policy issues. This week will also see the Prime Minister chair his final Cabinet meeting in
Downing Street on Thursday and make his valedictory appearance on the international stage when he attends the EU summit in Brussels. He will finally draw down the curtain on a decade in power on Wednesday of next week - June 27 - when he tenders his resignation to the Queen and hands over the reins of power to Gordon Brown.
