I for one don't buy that illusion

Know nothing has changed; the shining star prevails
The doppleganger is but an illusion
Spawned from a stolen essence
Highest intention used to distort what awareness perceives
Bent to the will of that desperate need.
A ritual undertaken without the prize
Diluted energy sparse substitute for that which was desired
A replica crescent; an effigy of the silvery moon
Sickness of the stomach and tainting of the mind
Nothing has changed; it remains as it was before
Hope prevails ... the shining countenance remains unharmed.
