It's been relatively calm here on the North Island over the last week. We've sat and watched the torrential rain in the UK and counted ourselves very lucky. It appeared we'd missed the Storms of 2007. However, new flooding occurred in East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia overnight and we began to feel slightly concerned once more.
Travelling through the Waikato today we noticed some very strange looking cloud formations above us. Crystalline web like in their appearance .... long fingers across the sky ... very unusual and perhaps a portend of something ominous about to arrive?
Now, looking once more at the Satellite imaging above ... we see there is perhaps cause for concern once more as a swirling 'eye' like structure can be seen clearly in the left of the image just east of the coast of Australia. Perhaps heading for New Zealand?
