Lost in the white noise

One voice shouts above the tempest
But nobody heeds that distant warning
Too lost are they in the frenzied cacophony
A maelstrom whirls them round and round
Staying in one place ...
The voice is not often heard
Its words lost; sentences not complete
A radio transmission through the hiss
A station forgotten
Its signal faint and irregular
Thus ... the one voice is forgotten
Within the maelstrom all become confused
And lost in the ever decreasing circles
Recalling too late ...
They'd heard the warning somewhere before ...
