Australia likely to get more swine flu

Ten people in NSW are still waiting on test results for swine flu, health authorities say. A NSW woman tested positive in Queensland for the virus on Saturday, the first confirmed case in Australia, but was not thought to be infectious by the time she boarded a flight from the US. NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said the state remained free of confirmed cases after assessing more than 300 people since the global swine flu outbreak in April. "There are currently 10 people (in NSW) awaiting test results," Dr Chant said in a statement on today. She said 34 passengers had been assessed at Sydney airport's influenza clinics since Saturday morning and all were released. Australia's chief medical officer Professor Jim Bishop said Australia is likely to have more cases of swine flu after its first confirmed case of the virus. (Sydney Morning Herald)
