Ball of Light Meditation Technique

Find a quiet area of the house. A favourite room in the house. Adopt your most comfortable position, whether it be siting in a chair or lying down on a bed. Put on some quiet background music. Preferably something 'new age' or 'meditation'. Close your eyes. Permit your mind to go on 'free thinking' mode. Contemplate your thoughts to analyse everything which is srong with your life. Let it wash over you like an intense storm. Then gradually, watch as your worries and concerns began to calm and recede. Now is the time to permit you mind to relax and unwind.

Here is where the magic of this meditation can take hold. Become conscious of your heart and its beating. Focus on its presence solely. It is the only thing you should become aware of. Permit yourself sufficient time for this to become so. Feel your heart beating; hear your heart beating. Become that vital vibration. Allow it to become under the control of your will. Now because you are aware it is under the control of your mind practice slowing your heart beat down. Slow it to a point where you now feel composed and relaxed. Your consciousness is totally relaxed.

Now with your eyes firmly closed, become aware of a mist of light descending down from above you. It is there. You can feel its resonance. Watch as it descends, down, down until it touches the top of your head. Feel a slight electrical discharge in your crown; a tingle in your fingers, down your spine. Will the mist then to slowly float down, down to your shoulders ... down then to your waist ... down your legs to your feet ... until you are aware you are totally enveloped in that wonderfully warm and comforting mist of light.

Experience that sensation for as long as you can remain aware of it. This mist will revitalise you and awaken you; strengthen your connection with the inner 'you'.

Then let the mist fade until you become aware of a feeling of being out in the open; out there in brilliant sunlight. Sense that now ... feel it now.

From this ... become aware of a tiny ball of light floating before you. A small wraith of light which you can place in the palm of your hand. Either hand will do. Look then at this wraith of light there in the palm of your hand. Close your hand around it and feel its energy. Feel its tiny resonance permeate through your senses. Now open your hand again ... and let it float until it hovers above your hand.

You can now visualise the same wraith of light placed equidistant between your two hand. Watch it hover there. Slowly then ... with it resting above one palm and with your other hand placed above it ... feel its energy begin to grow from a wraith of light into a small ball of light. Watch then that motion from your two hands can actually make this ball of light grow and grow until it is too big to be contained by your two hands ....

Enjoy this sensation for as long as you can. Now let the ball of light diminish in size until it is once more the wraith of light ... at this moment ... permit your own awareness to converse with you and provide you with a common name. Retain this name. Keep this name in your mind for the next time you need to relax and feel energised.

Permit now this situation to fade. Permit your awareness to recall once more the familiar surroundings of your room. Let your mind wander back to your material worries & woes. Open your eyes and take time to bring yourself back to this awareness. Now, find yourself a piece of paper and write down the given name before you forget it. This name can be used as a mantra when you are next in need of an energising mental boost ...


** this meditation is one of my own personal favourites to use in those moments I need an energy lift. I have developed this technique over many years. Often I will find a quiet moment in a work place and visualise this situation as an inspirational day dream. Believe me it really works. It may however take some practice to perfect it**
