Gordon Brown has announced a £14m package to help the areas worst-hit by the floods - but some say it "won't even scratch the surface". The PM unveiled the support as he visited Hull and the Doncaster village of Toll Bar, both devastated by torrential rains. He also said more money would be needed for long-term recovery. His visit came after some of the thousands of victims in the north of England accused ministers of forgetting about them. The help includes £10m for local authorities to support recovery work, including getting people who have lost everything back on their feet. Another £3m will go towards repairing roads and bridges and £1m will be set aside to help replace essential household items. Mr Brown said: "Government will continue to work closely with local councils and communities as we do everything possible to help." He added: "I'm absolutely sure that the extra money that we are providing today is essential."I also know that we are going to have to provide more money for reconstruction in the future."
