Brown Faces Quiz On Iran Plans

Daily Express Headline; says: 'Prime Minister Gordon Brown will face the media in the wake of a series of polls suggesting his political honeymoon may be drawing to an end. Three successive opinion polls this week have suggested that Labour is now virtually level-pegging with the Conservatives, after a summer in which the so-called "Brown bounce" put the party as many as nine or 10 points ahead. The latest survey, for the Times, found Labour's support down two points the 37% they gained in a similar poll five weeks ago, just one point ahead of the Tories on 36% (up three). Mr Brown is expected to come under pressure to finally rule out an October election when he holds his regular press conference at 10 Downing Street. He is also likely to be pressed to spell out his plans on Iraq, following Monday's withdrawal of British troops from their last stronghold in Basra to an "overwatch" role in a heavily fortified airbase outside the city. The expected grilling - Mr Brown's second Downing Street press conference since he became Prime Minister in June - will follow the first meeting of Cabinet after the summer break.
It comes in a week of busy political activity as Mr Brown seeks to inject momentum into his Government's programme ahead of the important party conference season.

It appears 'the Unicorn' seeks a miracle? Something to boost the polls once more. Somewhere a hand might be played on its behalf perhaps?
