
The claims came as detectives handed a ten-volume dossier on the case of Madeleine's disappearance to the public prosecutor. Less than three hours later it was announced that the file had been passed to a judge to investigate - the clearest indication yet that the couple are believed to have a case to answer. This takes the McCanns a step nearer learning if they are to be charged with killing their missing daughter. But they must still wait to find out if the judge thinks the case is strong enough to bring them back to Portugal for trial.
Sky News Headline 'Judge Asked For Emergency Order '; says: 'The public prosecutor in Portugal is reported to have asked the judge in the Madeleine McCann case to make an emergency order allowing him to seize a mystery object. It is not known what or where the object is but the prosecutor has asked the judge to issue an order allowing him to have it within 24 hours. Sky News crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: "The prosecution has asked the judge for an emergency order to give them permission to go and seize it. We do not know where or what it is, whether it is in this country or whether it is something perhaps the McCann family are refusing to hand over."
