We 'met' our first living Australian Possom tonight. Kristine had gone out into the courtyard to put out some bread ... and came rushing back into the house saying there was a Possum.I followed her out ... to find a young Possum with scared eyes watching me from on the clothes line! It was cute ... and not at all like the dead ones we keep seeing by the side of the road. Or anything like the horrible things people tell us about over here.
It was a scared thing that jumped down off the clothes line and made its escape across the courtyard. But, it didn't take it long to realise it was hungry! I picked up some of the scraps of bread from on the ground ... and with a little bit of coaxing it accepted some bread from out of my hand ... and stood there on its hind legs ... eating out of its front paws ... looking a little like a squirrel!!! It was cute ... a lot cuter than the photograph above which is courtesy of Wikipedia!!
