Affirmations are positive statements or directions you make to yourself in order to bring about changes in sub-conscious behaviour patterns. To enable a re-programming of traits or actions which you require an adjustment.
'Using an affirmation is like planting a seed in the fertile soil of your sub-conscious mind, and like a seed it needs daily tending or it may die. For this reason affirmations are tools which are used daily, frequently, by those who wish to change."
Consider this. Affirmations, to be effective, must always be stated as a positive result, in the past tense, rather than trying to negate a negative. 'I've overcome my fear of flying' rather than 'I must stop being scared of flying' for an example (though a poor one. First one which came to mind!)
Also, remember, the subconscious mind is much like a mindless robot - it only obeys and understands things literally. It can't 'figure things out' or 'interpret' or 'know what you mean'. Therefore this is why affirmations have to be stated as an already accomplished fact ... 'I am' instead of 'I want' or 'I will be'.
Finally, you really must want to change. Must need to change. If you don't, affirmations will have little effect.
