Hyperborea

By Tangerine Dream

One of my all time favourite Tangerine Dream tracks.

Taken from You Tube 'Title track from the 1983 album Hyperborea, is one of the most atmospheric tracks of the 80's period. I always wondered if the word 'Hyperborea' had a meaning. When I looked it up, I found it was the name given in Greek mythology to a fabled land far to the north, where the sun shines 24 hours a day and the people live a thousand years. Various locations for Hyperborea have been suggested, including Greenland, Scandinavia and Siberia, although it could be anywhere above the Arctic Circle. Images used in the vid are of the 'midnight sun' and the 'northern lights', both of which would have been visible from Hyperborea.
