Ardgroom: Co Cork.

Ardgroom is a fine recumbent stone circle with a rather strange recumbent. Instead of the usual low, wide, flat-topped block, the Ardgroom recumbent is a totally atypical1.2m high pointed stone.

Many stones are missing from the circle, we counted nine standing and two fallen, although one of these may be a fragment from the broken SE circle stone. The portals are in place at the NNE, these two metre tall stones have been placed tangentially. Six metres to the east of the circle stands the 2.5m high outlier, this stone has the usual "edge on" alignment to the circle, but in this case it is aligned the southern side of the circle, and not the centre.

A "trail" of small loose boulders runs from the circle to the outlier and past it for some distance, this may have been the remnants of an old field wall.
