The warrior who tends his sword
shall see it serve him well
then he may pass to his son
before the passing bell
yet he whose virtue be misplaced
hath walked another way
and poor shall be his wretched lot
upon the judgement day
shall see it serve him well
then he may pass to his son
before the passing bell
yet he whose virtue be misplaced
hath walked another way
and poor shall be his wretched lot
upon the judgement day
The rune Jara has the meaning of Season or year. It expresses the essentially cyclic nature of time and the processing within time. Jara represents the fruition of the correct order of processing, and the completion of the process within the constraints of the rune Hagall. Jara is the successful harvest gained by correct husbandry, because if actions are undertaken in accordance with correct principles, in harmony with natural order, then the end result will be beneficial.
Jara is a rune of completion, marking the winter solstice, and the end of the old year, and the beginning of the new. It's shape represents 'looking back at the old year and forwards to the new'.
In any rune casting, the appearance of Jara will represent a repayment for actions of the past within one year of the casting. The payment is to be fair and just and representative of the harmonious or disharmonious passage through the last year taken by the querent.
