He stands there with solemn face,
Only appearing confused ,
The move may have been a counter,
Reaction to a potential ruse,
More than what it appears
Is being played for here
The pieces adopting a holding pattern,
A formation concealing the final moves,
Both players seek the ultimate,
The checkmate,
The reality to be achieved,
For what is presented on the board
is truly not the stalemate
Which the audience is led to believe
