New Zealand: Roads severely affected by bad weather
The polar blast is having an effect on main highways in the south. The AA advises that main highways are open but are starting to be affected by snow. On SH 6, Kingston to Lumsden and SH 94 Lumsden to Te Anau it is particularly treacherous and drivers are asked to exercise caution. SH 94, the road from Te Anau to Milford is closed. In the east - SH93 - Mataura to Clinton - drivers are also asked to be cautious. Many highways in central Otago are also affected by snow but are still open at this point - in some cases, chains are required.
