The Daily Mail headline, says:
"A towel found in Portuguese scrubland could provide a vital clue to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, it emerged tonight. It was discovered nine miles from the McCann family's holiday apartment - in an area pinpointed by an anonymous letter to a Dutch newspaper as the spot where she was buried. Forensic teams will examine the light brown beach towel to establish if there is any link to the missing four-year-old - and whether it might be the "blanket" her kidnapper is believed to have used that night six weeks ago to smuggle her away. The discovery was made by two journalists from the Amsterdam based De Telegraaf newspaper, who led Portuguese police to the area marked with a cross on a map that accompanied the letter. They videoed the find and handed it to detectives"
This is too 'neat and tidy' ...very suspicious. Is this towel linked to the case at all? Logical mind is in circles will all the possible permutations here ... the letter wasn't a hoax and it was written by the same person who planted the towel ... the towel is a plant ... the towel will either have DNA evidence on it which confirms it belonged to Maddy ... or it didn't. The latter means it is all an elaborate hoax to work as a smokescreen and drag media attention away from other issues or reignite the media attention for the McCanns. If the towel is proven to be linked to Maddy it could be the towel which is linked to the 'mystery man' on the night of her abduction. Ok, if this is proven to be the case ... it does NOT mean anything other than the possibility that the towel was dumped here by the original abductors of Maddy --- not the same people or persons as those who NOW have Maddy.
It has become even MORE important therefore to trace the sender of the letter and also the contact in the Media who gave the nod to have the story go 'live' ... if anything it can serve to eliminate them from the line of enquiries.
I must come to the logical conclusion that someone somewhere in the Media is inexplicably linked to the abduction. It is the only conclusion which can be made here.
IF the towel proves significant ... it does not (or should not) imply that Maddy's life has been endangered. Someone somewhere has gone to great trouble to ensure this towel is found ... why? The trail which it belongs to is now long cold ... and I qualify it therefore as a false trail. This I now intuit is the reason for all of this ... to ensure attention is focussed here and not on the developments which may be taking place elsewhere.
