Believe it or not, the sunshine's on its way!

Britons were told last night to expect a last-gasp burst of sunshine tomorrow as summer draws to a close. But as we know from experience, there is nothing as unpredictable as a Bank Holiday weekend. If the forecasters are to be believed, the next few days will be warm and dry. Only the unlucky residents of North-West England and Scotland will see rain before Monday. The news comes as a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gloomy, soaking August. It will bring particular joy to those fans packing their tents and waterproofs for the Reading Festival. Pumps have been used to dry out the Thames-side site where bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Smashing Pumpkins are due to perform this weekend.

Anton Muscat of the Met Office said: "It won't be wall-to-wall sunshine but most places will enjoy dry weather this weekend. There will be cloud and a risk of a few showers, mainly in northern parts of England. But away from there it will be largely dry." (Daily Mail) (Remember press on red for link!)
